Our Story
When my two sons grew up and flew the nest, I found myself searching for a new purpose—something to bring creativity and joy into my days. Just a few years ago, I had no idea flower farming was even a thing, at least not in my area. That all changed when I planted my first thousand snapdragons, unknowingly stepping into a whole new chapter of my life.
We planted a couple of thousand snapdragons and zinnias, sat on our deck, and said, “Well, at least it will be pretty to look at,” not knowing if we had a plan or even needed one. What started as a simple experiment quickly turned into a deep passion. I fell in love with the entire process—from nurturing tiny seedlings in my basement in the winter to watching fields burst into color and sharing the magic of fresh-cut blooms with my community.
Now in my third year, Empty Nest Blooms is thriving. We grow a variety of seasonal flowers, with a special love for dahlias and lisianthus. One of my greatest joys is welcoming people into the you-pick field. I don’t think our small town road has ever seen as much traffic as it has in the last three years! Seeing others experience the beauty of the flower fields is truly rewarding.
Starting this farm has been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life. What was once an "empty nest" is now overflowing with beauty, growth, and purpose. My hope is that the flowers I grow bring as much joy to you as they have to me.
Thank you for being a part of this journey!
